Reconnect with someone
Reconnect with a lost relative or friend, with their consent
For personal reconnections we do things differently. We find the person, pass on your message, and share an address or contact details only if they say yes. It protects them, it protects you, and it is the only way we will do it.
Who instructs this
Adopted people and birth relatives, old friends, former colleagues, people tracing family history.
How it works
- Tell us who you are looking for and what you would like to say.
- We trace them and deliver your message.
- If they consent, we connect you. If not, we tell you we reached them and there is no charge.
Questions about this
Why won’t you just give me the address?
Because a personal wish to reconnect is not a lawful basis for handing over someone’s home address. Consent is. Most people say yes.
What if they don’t reply?
We make two attempts over three weeks. If there is no response, there is no charge.
